The World Meeting of Families: what is it?
After joining Pope Benedict XVI in Milan in 2012 and Pope Francis in Philadelphia in 2015, CANA once again responds to this invitation and participates in this exceptional event.
CANA in Dublin: help us to form the leaders
At the service of the couple and family, CANA trains local leaders in order to meet by themselves the needs and expectations of families.
The purpose of the Dublin meeting is to train these couples so that they can respond to the new issues facing couples and the family as the fundamental building block of society: to share our practices, good ideas and difficulties and to reflect together on challenges encountered in different countries.
CANA joins the great family of Christians of the world to meet the other movements of the family pastoral programme, to be enriched by participation at the Congress of the Family and to celebrate with the Pope the love that we all bring to the mission with the couples and the families.
CANA today is present in 50 countries of the world on all continents. To date, 65 couples from 32 countries have planned to come to Dublin: Hong Kong, Lebanon, Egypt, Brazil, Ivory Coast, Canada, Uganda, Cameroon, and even Russia, Latvia, Ukraine….
CANA leaders are confronted every day with the challenges faced by couples and families:
- Communication: learning to talk to each other, to listen to each other
- Conflicts in everyday life: reconciliation and peace between spouses
- Education: place of the father, the mother, the children within the family
- Conjugal spirituality: living your faith today as a couple and as a family
Together, gathered in prayer, CANA wishes to receive and share the new intuitions of the mission to accompany couples and families around the world, for a stronger, deeper love.
Thanks to you, CANA leaders from countries with few resources will be able to participate in this exceptional meeting.
TESTIMONY :
« For the last 10 years we have been married, we have not had such a couple dialogue experience. CANA taught us how to share deeply. » Marcelo and Daniela, Brazil
Who are we ?
CANA is a place to experience a warm welcome, fraternity and celebrating the joy of life, where everyone comes with their personal history, their expectations, their difficulties, their experience as a couple and family. Whether you are married for 50 years or in a time of reflection to engage in a life as a couple, whether you are coming from a single-parent family, are a single person or divorced, CANA offers solutions adapted to the situations of our time. CANA offers a time for dialogue, spiritual healing and relaxation. As a real “school” of the couple and the family, everyone rediscovers the joy of a deeper, stronger love.
CANA is a mission of the Chemin Neuf Community.
Each year, CANA welcomes 15,000 people, hosts 80 CANA Weeks, offers 60 weeks of training and more than 300 weekends in nearly 50 countries, and works in 24 languages.
For nearly 40 years, CANA has worked for the unity of couples and families, contributing to greater justice, peace and unity in society.
TESTIMONY :
« If the family is strong, there will certainly come people of God, citizens who will build a more just society ». Geetha and Dondieu, India
The leaders come from all continents. Each couple is invited to participate in the cost of the World Meeting of Families. The financial participation of CANA couples around the world, encouraged to express solidarity, also contributes to the financing of the project. However, these funds are not enough and we need your contribution to help the ten couples who have the most difficulty to finance their participation. These couples come from Lebanon, Egypt, Brazil, Ivory Coast, Uganda, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Tanzania, Burundi and Zimbabwe.
Average budget for a couple from Africa or South America: € 2,900. That is to say:
- 2 tickets and 2 visas (average price): 1.800 €
- 2 "Pass", giving access to the Congress and the weekend with the Pope: 136
- Accommodation for a couple: 484 €
- Food for a couple: 280 €
- Translation and equipment: 200 €
Your generosity will make the difference and allow these ten couples, CANA leaders, to participate in the World Meeting of Families.
